Ingredients
- 1 cup (230g) unsalted butter
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups (350–400g) milk chocolate chips or chopped milk chocolate
How to Make
- Prepare the pan
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. - Cook the toffee
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
Add sugar and salt, then stir continuously until the mixture reaches 300°F (150°C) (hard crack stage).
If you don’t have a thermometer, cook until the mixture turns deep golden brown. - Add vanilla
Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla quickly. - Spread the toffee
Pour the hot toffee onto the prepared baking sheet.
Spread evenly into a thin layer using a spatula. - Add the chocolate
Immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips on top.
Let them melt for 1–2 minutes, then spread into a smooth layer. - Cool and break
Let the bark cool completely at room temperature or refrigerate until firm.
Once solid, break into pieces. - Serve or store
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
