  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a large baking dish and set aside.
  2. Cook the Sausage
In a skillet, cook the ground sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Sauce
    • In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
    • Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to create a roux.
    • Gradually whisk in the heavy cream and milk, ensuring no lumps form.
    • Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until the sauce thickens.
  4. Assemble the Casserole
    • Layer half the sliced potatoes in the baking dish.
    • Pour half of the sauce over the potatoes.
    • Add half of the cooked sausage and sprinkle with half the shredded cheese.
    • Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, sauce, sausage, and cheese.
  5. Bake
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
  6. Garnish and Serve
Sprinkle the chopped green onions on top before serving.

Enjoy this warm and satisfying casserole with a side salad or bread for a complete meal!
