Ingredients

  • 500 g (1 lb) potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 300 g (10 oz) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1½ cups shredded cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or mix)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp dried oregano or thyme
  • Salt & black pepper to taste
  • Optional: parsley or chili flakes

Instructions

Cook the Potatoes

  • Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add diced potatoes, season with salt and pepper.
  • Cover and cook for 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender and golden.
  • Remove potatoes and set aside.

Cook the Beef

  • In the same skillet, add remaining oil.
  • Sauté onion for 2–3 minutes until soft.
  • Add garlic and ground beef.
  • Cook until beef is browned, breaking it apart.

Combine

  • Add potatoes back to the skillet.
  • Season with paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  • Mix gently and cook 3–5 minutes.

Add Cheese

  • Sprinkle cheese evenly over the top.
  • Cover the skillet and cook on low heat until cheese melts (3–4 minutes).

Serving Suggestions

  • Serve with a fresh green salad
  • Add fried eggs on top for brunch 🍳
  • Pair with yogurt or garlic sauce on the side
