INGREDIENTS
For the Dumplings:
- 4 medium potatoes, boiled & mashed
- 1 egg
- 1 cup flour (adjust as needed)
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
For the Creamy Sauce:
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 cups milk (or half-&-half for extra richness)
- Salt & pepper to taste
- A pinch of nutmeg (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Make the Dumplings:
- Combine mashed potatoes, egg, salt, pepper, and enough flour to form a soft, non-sticky dough.
- Shape into small balls.
- Boil a pot of salted water and drop the dumplings in. Cook until they float, then let them cook 2 minutes more. Remove and set aside.
2. Make the Cream Sauce:
- In a pan, melt butter and sauté onions until soft.
- Add flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Slowly whisk in the milk until smooth and creamy.
- Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
3. Combine & Serve:
- Gently fold dumplings into the creamy sauce.
