Ingredients
- 4–6 slices thick-cut bologna
- 1–2 tbsp butter or oil
- 1 sandwich bun or thick bread slices
- 1 slice cheese (American, cheddar, provolone — optional)
- 1–2 tbsp mustard or mayo
- Pickles (optional)
- Ketchup or hot sauce (optional)
Instructions
1. Prepare the bologna
- Use thick slices if possible.
- Cut a small “X” or slit on one side of each slice
This prevents curling while frying.
2. Fry the bologna
- Heat butter/oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the bologna slices in a single layer.
- Fry 2–3 minutes per side until:
✔ Edges are crispy
✔ Center is browned
✔ Slight bubbling on the surface
3. Toast the bun
- Spread a little butter on the bun/bread.
- Toast in the same skillet until golden.
4. Build the sandwich
- Spread mustard or mayo on the bun.
- Layer the fried bologna slices.
- Add cheese (optional). It will melt from the heat of the meat.
- Add pickles, ketchup, or hot sauce if desired.
5. Serve
- Press lightly and serve warm.
- Perfect with chips, fries, or a cold drink.

- Add a fried egg and American cheese.

- Add grilled onions + cheese + spicy mustard.
