  • 4 cups (500g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup (50g) sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 1/4 tsp (1 packet) instant yeast
  • 1 cup (240ml) warm milk (about 110°F/43°C)
  • 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • Sesame seeds (optional)
  • 2 tbsp butter for brushing

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
    • Add the softened butter and egg, mixing well.
    • Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  2. Knead:
    • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook for 5-7 minutes.
  3. First Rise:
    • Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
  4. Shape the Rolls:
    • Punch down the dough and divide it into equal portions (about 20-24 pieces). Shape each portion into a smooth ball and place them in a greased baking dish.
  5. Second Rise:
    • Cover the rolls with a towel and let them rise again for 30-45 minutes, or until puffed up.
  6. Bake:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Brush the rolls with melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds on top (optional).
    • Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  7. Serve:
    • Brush the warm rolls with additional butter for extra shine and flavor. Serve immediately.

Enjoy these delightful dinner rolls warm, and fresh from the oven!
